To provide an enjoyable and safe sporting experience for an assigned group of children while they learn individual and team game skills, sportsmanship, and fair play. Onboarding Requirements: Volunteers must complete an online Volunteer Application through the Y’s volunteer management system called, “Volunteer Matters.” Additional no cost requirements include completion of the following: Background Check Child Abuse & Prevention Online Training Videos Heads up Concussion Fact Sheet Once you have signed up for a volunteer opportunity by visiting https://gwrymca.volunteermatters.org/, please contact Robert Kennedy at 314-521-1822 ext 20650 or robert.kennedy@gwrymca.org before you begin to make sure you have completed the necessary requirements. Youth Sports Coach volunteer responsibilities include: Coach an assigned group of children emphasizing skill development, safety, fair play, sportsmanship, and fun. Preside over team activities including all scheduled team practices and games Be responsible for team equipment. Ensure equal playing time for all your players regardless of the score. Work to establish and improve team unity and spirit. Adhere to YMCA policies, objectives, and rules. Lead by example among team parents to support the responsibilities of the referee and league leadership. Time Commitment: Each coach's average time commitment is weekly practice (1hr.) and Saturday games (1hr.). Pre-school coaching is only 1 hour weekly.
